From
The Heart
Steve Srein-Founder/Editor
Tax season. It’s not a favorite time of year for
most of us, but the deadline for filing income taxes is quickly
approaching. During this time we have to be aware of
scammers and identity thieves. Unless you are protected, these
people can get your name, address, social security number, your
income, places you work, your mortgage company – virtually
everything they need to steal your identity.
First we want to extend our prayers for the victims in
Chili.
What we see on TV and the internet is only a fraction of the
devastation those people are suffering.
For those that are serving in our military
abroad and here in the USA, to protect the freedoms we so richly
enjoy, our deepest thanks, prayers and support go out to
all of you.
We are going into our 24th year of helping get the most out of
their finances. We think we have been with our successful mission
and passion to helping people find good homes, great financing
programs, keep people informed on tax law changes and more.
We are helping people achieve their
dreams. Helping people save money and helping people avoid
costly mistakes.
I realize that the destiny of those we serve are in our hands, and
that my friend is a sobering though. Each time I or one of
our colleagues meet with
people, we treat our clients financial matters as if they were our
own.
It's personal. It's Professional.
We want to thank you for your loyal support all of these years!
And for those that have not had an experience working with us and our
fine services, we invite you to give us a call and see for yourself.
It will be refreshing and rewarding to see that People Really Do Come
First!

- First Time Buyers, Extended to
6/30/2010
"It is
finally official. The homebuyers' tax credit has been extended to
April 30, 2010.
President Barack Obama
approved the extension as part of a $24 billion economic stimulus
bill signed Friday. The bill also includes an extension of
unemployment benefits to the longtime jobless and tax credits for
some businesses.
The housing tax credit portion of the bill extends the $8,000 tax
credit for home buyers who are purchasing their first home from the
current November 30 deadline and expands the program to offer a
credit of $6,500 to other homeowners who have lived in their current
home for at least five years and are seeking to relocate."

Are the Insurance
Companies Taking Advantage of You?
"You
probably wonder why the insurance companies want to value your homes
at almost double. Well the first is what you would thing they want
the premiums but the value of the home sets the value for the
contents of your home. The hidden agenda here is your deductable
increases as a percentage of the homes replacement cost value."

- "More Homeowners Walk Away"
"A growing number of home owners in Arizona, California, Florida,
and Nevada—where prices have fallen the most—are walking away from
their properties.
They are leaving the deal behind not because they can’t pay but
because they don’t want to. A study by researchers at Northwestern
University and the University of Chicago concludes that as many as
25 percent of defaults are driven by strategy, not necessity."

- "More Foreclosures Coming
Soon"
"More than 1.7 million
homeowners were verging on foreclosure this fall, making it likely
that these houses will soon end up on the market one way or the
other, driving down overall housing values.
"We're going to be dealing with high levels of distressed (sales) in
the marketplace for at least a couple of years," says Mark Fleming,
chief economist of researcher First American CoreLogic, which has
been studying the problem."

Address Risk and Strengthen Finances "
"RISMEDIA, January 22,

"In
today’s economy, small-business owners sometimes look to the oldest

- IRS - Debt Cancellation - 1099C
"In general, if a
debt for which you are personally liable is canceled or
forgiven, other than as a gift or bequest, you may have
to include the canceled amount in gross income.
Depending on the circumstances by which your debt was
canceled and the nature of any property associated with
the debt, the canceled debt may qualify for an exception
to resulting in gross income, or the canceled debt may
result in gross income but the income may be excluded."

- IRS - Haven't Filed An Income
Tax Return Since...?
"Filing a past due return may not be as difficult as you
think. Taxpayers should file all tax returns that are
due, regardless of whether or not full payment can be
made with the return. Depending on an individual’s
circumstances, a taxpayer filing late may qualify for a
payment plan.
All payment plans require continued compliance with all
filing and payment responsibilities after the plan is
approved. However,
full payment of taxes saves
you money."
